Is the Flora-Bama in Florida or Alabama?
Both, sort of. The Flora-Bama is the famous roadhouse on the Florida–Alabama line at Perdido Key / Orange Beach. The state line runs through the complex; Florida plates and Alabama plates share the parking lot. It's the literal border bar between the two states.
Why it exists on the line
The Flora-Bama opened in 1964 right where Perdido Key Drive becomes the Alabama side. Multiple stages, an oyster bar, package store, deck, and the Bushwacker line — it's more campus than single room. Live music most nights; Mullet Toss every April.
What flag applies if you walk to the beach
Once you're on the sand, the lifeguard program for that stretch of beach sets the flag. Don't assume FL and AL match — check today's flags for both sides. Double red on the Alabama side can carry a fine.
Is it worth going?
