For the small humans who need a different texture than sand and condo carpet. Sorted by usefulness, not by alphabet.

On Perdido Key (FL)

• Perdido Key Community Park — Bauer Road / Sorrento area. Pavilion, playground, walking paths. Where the locals' kids go after school.
• Perdido Key State Park playground area — picnic + play structure at the day-use beach.

In Orange Beach / Gulf Shores (AL)

• Waterfront Park (Orange Beach) — bay-side park on Wolf Bay with playground, walking trails, picnic, and great sunset photos.
• Gulf State Park (Gulf Shores) — multiple play areas inside the park, plus the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail (28 miles paved, bike-friendly, kid-able for shorter loops).
• Orange Beach Sportsplex — fields, courts, big open play space if you've got energy to burn.

Inland Baldwin (Foley etc.)

• Foley Heritage Park — small downtown park with playground.
• Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermans Market site — outdoor space in Foley with seasonal events.

Indoor play (when the heat or rain wins)

• Trampoline parks exist in Foley and Pensacola. They open and close on commercial cycles; verify before driving.

Practical notes from people who do this weekly

Play structures on this coast are in full sun most of the day, and the slides and metal railings get genuinely hot by late morning from May through September. The window that works is early — before nine — or the last hour before sunset, which also happens to be when the bay-side parks are at their prettiest. Bring water and a hat; the Gulf breeze does not reach the inland parks. The bigger parks have restrooms and covered pavilions, the pocket playgrounds mostly do not, so plan the toddler logistics around the bigger ones.

One more local habit: on a red-flag or double-red day, the parks are the plan, not the fallback. Check today's flag first and skip the standoff at the water's edge. And if a park listed here has changed, closed for work, or a new one has opened, tell us — playgrounds here get rebuilt after storms more often than you would think.
