How many days do you need in Perdido Key?
Plan on three to four days for a solid first visit: enough for a couple of pure beach days plus one on-the-water outing (a dolphin cruise or fishing charter) and a state-park afternoon. A full week is better if your goal is to actually decompress rather than sightsee — this is a slow-down beach town, not a checklist destination. A single overnight isn't really worth the drive.
A long weekend (3–4 days)
This is the most common trip and it works. Give yourself two unhurried beach days, one day on the water — a fishing charter or a dolphin cruise — and an afternoon at Perdido Key State Park or the Backcountry Trail. Eat at The Point and hit the Flora-Bama once and you've done the essentials.
A full week
Seven days lets the place actually work on you — which is the whole point. You get lazy beach mornings, time to explore The Wharf and Orange Beach, a rainy-day backup or two, and no pressure to pack it all in. Families and anyone driving a long way in should lean toward a week.

Rainy-day and rest-day backups
Even in summer you'll likely catch one stormy afternoon, so it helps to have indoor options in your back pocket: OWA, Tanger Outlets, or the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Building in a genuine do-nothing day is also completely on-brand here.

Is one day enough for Perdido Key?
For a day trip from Pensacola or Gulf Shores, sure — hit the state park, grab lunch, and see the Flora-Bama. But as a standalone destination it's worth at least two or three nights to justify the trip.
Is Perdido Key good for a week-long vacation?
Yes. Between the beach, fishing, state parks, Orange Beach attractions, and day trips to Pensacola, there's easily a week of things to do — though plenty of people happily spend the week doing nothing but the beach.
