Is there a boardwalk near Perdido Key, and what is The Wharf?

Perdido Key doesn't have a traditional beach boardwalk, but The Wharf in Orange Beach is the closest thing — a waterfront entertainment district with a 112-foot Ferris wheel (the Wharf Wheel), shops, restaurants, a marina, and an outdoor amphitheater that hosts national concerts. It's about a 15-20 minute drive from Perdido Key and is the area's main strolling-and-shopping hub.

What The Wharf is

The Wharf is a built waterfront district, not a beachfront one — you're on the Intracoastal, not the Gulf. The Ferris wheel, a zip line, boutiques, restaurants, and a marina where you can catch cruises and charters all sit together. The amphitheater draws real touring acts in season.

Where the beach walking is

For an actual beach stroll, skip the boardwalk expectation and just walk the sand at Perdido Key State Park or along the public accesses. For nature boardwalks, Gulf State Park and Big Lagoon have raised walkways through the dunes and marsh.

More questions

Does Perdido Key have a pier?

The big fishing pier is at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores. Perdido Key itself is more about open beach than piers and boardwalks.
