About this camera
FOX10 (WALA, Mobile) keeps a camera on the Gulf at Orange Beach and streams it on YouTube. It's the news-station view of the Alabama side of the beach — handy on a stormy day when the station is watching the water anyway. Same water as Perdido Key, just a few miles west; the flag that governs it is Orange Beach's, not Pensacola's.
Reading the Orange Beach view
- Alabama flies its own flag. Orange Beach sets its flag independently of the Florida side, and it enforces it — entering the Gulf on a double red carries a fine here. Calm-looking water on the cam does not override the flag; check today's Orange Beach flag before you head down.
- What the Alabama beach shows. The Orange Beach cams look out from the condo and resort strip along Perdido Beach Boulevard, so you'll see rental chairs and umbrellas going out in the morning and coming in at dusk — a good rough gauge of how busy the beach is that day. Perdido Pass and the boat traffic sit off to the east.
- If it goes dark. These are third-party feeds and go down for weather, power, and maintenance on the source's schedule. Our own Perdido Key live cam, a few miles east across the state line, is the one we keep up around the clock — same Gulf, same weather.
