Johnny B’s sits on Highway 98 in Lillian, just past the state line — close enough that plenty of Florida-side folks consider it theirs. It’s a roadhouse in the classic mold: semi-dive, zero polish, and live music every single day, which almost nothing else within an hour of here can claim. The players are local musicians and up-and-comers working out their sets, and the karaoke nights are run better than karaoke has any right to be. There’s open mic too, if you’ve been sitting on three songs and some nerve.
What to order
The oyster po’boys are the food reason to come. This is bar food done by people who eat their own bar food, not a kitchen chasing a concept.
The vibe
The porch is the point — dogs are allowed out there, the regulars know each other, and nobody’s in a hurry. Reviewers rate this place absurdly high for a highway bar in Lillian, and the reason is simple: it’s consistent, it’s friendly, and the music never stops.
Good to know
Facebook is their only web presence, which is where the nightly music lineup gets posted. Cross the bridge, follow 98, look for the porch.
