Publix Orange Beach

AL Unclaimed
shop · Perdido Beach Boulevard · $$

The AL-side anchor grocery. Where Orange Beach actually shops. Full-format, real parking, the usual Publix reliability.

The Publix in Orange Beach is the AL-side counterpart to the FL Sorrento store — full-format grocery, real bakery, deli, real produce, the alcohol aisle, the sushi counter that’s surprisingly decent. Sits off the Boulevard at a turn where you don’t have to deal with the worst of beach-strip parking.

This is the grocery store the OB locals use. The tourist version is closer to the condo strip and pays for it with the parking-lot war.

Standard advice: avoid Saturday mid-morning in season. Sunday afternoon is also dense. Tuesday at 10 a.m. is the platonic ideal.

What it’s good for

Full provisioning for a condo week: real produce, a bakery, the deli for sandwich platters, the sushi counter, and the alcohol aisle that the FL-side beach stores can’t always match. If you’re cooking in for the week — or just need a beach-day lunch spread — this is the AL-side stock-up.

Getting there

Off Perdido Beach Boulevard at the Shoppes at Palm Pointe, set back at a turn that keeps it out of the worst beach-strip traffic. It has its own full lot — real parking, which on this stretch in season is not nothing.

Stocking up for the week

If you’re driving in for a condo stay, hit Publix on the way to the beach, not after. The Boulevard backs up in the afternoon and the lot fills with it. One big provisioning run on arrival beats daily trips into beach traffic all week.
