When is hurricane season in Perdido Key?

Official Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. For Perdido Key and Orange Beach, the highest historical risk is usually late summer into early fall (August–October). Shoulder seasons can still be excellent beach weather — just keep an eye on the forecast.

What that means for booking

Summer is peak beach season and also in-season for tropical weather. Many visitors still come June–August for warm water and school calendars. September can be gorgeous and less crowded, with lower rates and higher awareness of the tropics. Our best time to visit guide breaks month-by-month tradeoffs.

If a storm is in the Gulf

Follow National Hurricane Center guidance and local emergency management — not social media rumors. Condos and hotels post their own evacuation policies. We keep an honest local take on prep at hurricane prep.

Day-to-day in season

Most summer days are not storm days. Afternoon sea-breeze storms are common and usually short. Check flags and the NWS outlook each morning.

Do businesses close for storms?

For serious threats, yes — evacuations and closures happen. For garden-variety tropical rain, most restaurants stay open.
