The road and the sun

Drive slow, use the crosswalks, never walk the road at night in dark clothes, and drink water like it's a job. Sunburn on day one ruins day two through five; sunscreen, shade, and a hat before noon.
Storm season
Hurricane season runs June through November, with the busy part August–October. A named storm here is a slow-moving, well-forecast event with days of warning — you leave, you don't ride it out in a beachfront condo. For a normal trip that means: buy trip insurance for late-summer bookings, know your rental's cancellation policy, and glance at the tropics the week before. The rest of the year the weather risk is a rip-current day and a lightning storm, both handled by reading the flag and getting off the sand when it rumbles.
