Gulf Shores is the most visitor-forward of the three towns on this stretch, and it doesnβt pretend otherwise. Highway 59 runs straight down from Foley and dead-ends into the Gulf at the public beach, and that intersection β The Hangout, the pavilion energy, the souvenir shops β is the closest thing this coast has to a boardwalk town center.
The quiet counterweight is Gulf State Park: miles of protected shore, a fishing pier, and a genuinely excellent trail network if you brought bikes. On the Intracoastal side, LuLuβs is the big family-with-kids play β waterfront, live music, and an afternoon that runs itself.
From Perdido Key itβs roughly half an hour west along the beach road through Orange Beach, longer in peak-summer traffic. If youβre deciding where to base a trip, our Perdido Key vs Orange Beach vs Gulf Shores guide does the honest comparison.
