Quoted from the National Weather Service, Mobile: Perdido Bay Area (GMZ633) and the Gulf, Pensacola to Pascagoula (GMZ650). In this region a Small Craft Advisory means NWS expects "sustained winds of 20 to 33 knots, and/or forecast seas seven (7) feet or greater that are expected for more than two (2) hours" (NWS). The captain makes the weather call on every trip.

Florida's parasail rules

Florida regulates commercial parasailing by statute (F.S. 327.375, since 2014), which covers flights in Florida waters, including off Perdido Key. A Florida parasail operator must:

On the Alabama side, each operator's own weather and cancellation policy is on its card above. The captain makes the final call either way.

Questions people ask

How much does parasailing cost in Orange Beach and Perdido Key?

From the operators' own sites (checked October 6, 2026): $84.99–$89.99 a flyer, and $39.99–$42 for a ride-along observer. Photos are extra everywhere, and Ike's says a 15–20% tip is standard.

How high do you go, and for how long?

Most boats let out about 800 feet of line (Ike's says that's roughly 400 feet up). Expect up to about 10 minutes in the air and 30 minutes to an hour on the water, flying two or three at a time.

What are the age and weight limits?

Ike's: flyers 5 and up (under 13 with a ride-along 16 or older), up to three people and 450 lb combined. Parasail Sky Surfer: 4 and up. Top Tier's stands (Perdido Key Parasail, Chute 'Em Up, Blue Sky): 3 and up with a 35 lb minimum; the weight limit depends on the wind. Orange Beach Parasail: any age with an adult, 90–450 lb combined. None of them take pregnant flyers.

Do you take off from the beach?

Not here. The beach stands (Perdido Key Parasail, Ike's at the Flora-Bama and Gulf State Park, Blue Sky in Gulf Shores) run you out to the boat on a banana boat; the marina operators board you at the dock. Everyone takes off from and lands on the back of the boat.

When is parasailing cancelled for weather?

In Florida waters, state law bans commercial parasailing when the sustained wind is over 20 mph, gusts run 15 mph above it or top 25 mph, rain or fog cuts visibility below half a mile, or lightning is within 7 miles (F.S. 327.375). Each operator also has its own weather and refund policy, on its card.

How we built this: every price, limit and policy comes from the operator's own website or its own booking page, checked October 6, 2026; the law is quoted from the Florida Statutes. No operator paid to be listed. Flying parasails and not here, or a price changed? Tell us and we'll check it against your site.
