Dolphin cruises

30 boats that go looking for the bottlenose dolphins in the bays and passes, from Southwind Marina at Innerarity Point to The Wharf: shared seats, private six-passenger boats, a sailboat, a glass-bottom boat and tiki boats, each with the prices it prints on its own site. Book direct with the boat.

Quoted from the National Weather Service, Mobile: Perdido Bay Area (GMZ633) and the Gulf, Pensacola to Pascagoula (GMZ650). In this region a Small Craft Advisory means NWS expects "sustained winds of 20 to 33 knots, and/or forecast seas seven (7) feet or greater that are expected for more than two (2) hours" (NWS). The captain makes the weather call on every trip.

Quick picks

From the published prices below: adult prices before tax and fees, for October 2026 dates.

What NOAA asks of boats around dolphins

What we look for in a boat: the captain slows down and lets the dolphins come to the boat instead of running alongside them, and nobody tosses food or promises you'll swim with them. Where a boat says on its own site how it treats dolphins, its card quotes it. Some boats advertise NOAA's "Dolphin SMART" program; NOAA's list of participants is no longer online, so those claims can't be checked.

From the Perdido Key side

Southwind Marina and the Galvez Landing ramp at Innerarity Point, just across the bridge, and the charter dock on Perdido Key Dr. Blue Dolphin is the one boat here that sells single seats on a schedule.

Questions people ask

How much is a dolphin cruise in Orange Beach?

From the boats' own sites (checked October 6, 2026): a seat on a shared cruise runs $18–$30 for an adult on most boats and about $15–$24 for kids, usually for 1.5 to 2 hours, often plus tax. A private boat for up to six runs from $200 for 2 hours (Tradition, on the Perdido Key side); most private 1.5–2 hour trips are $240–$400 for the boat.

Is there a dolphin cruise from Perdido Key?

Yes. Blue Dolphin Cruises sells seats from Southwind Marina at Innerarity Point, just across the bridge ($24 for ages 3 and up). Tradition, Entertainer, Uncle Wally's and Twisted Palms run private trips from the Florida side. Most shared cruises leave from the state line and Orange Beach, 10–20 minutes west.

How close can a boat get to wild dolphins?

NOAA says: "It is against the law to feed or harass wild dolphins," and "We encourage you to observe them from a distance of at least 50 yards (150 feet)." Feeding wild dolphins can bring fines of up to $100,000 and up to a year in jail under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

Are dolphin sightings guaranteed?

It depends on the boat. Some operators publish a sighting guarantee or a rain check, and others say plainly that they can't promise one. The terms differ, so ask when you book.

How we built this: every price, dock and policy comes from the boat's own website or its own booking page, checked October 6, 2026; online prices are for October 2026 dates. Dolphin rules are quoted from NOAA. No boat paid to be listed. Running a dolphin cruise that isn't here, or a price changed? Tell us and we'll check it against your site.
