Annie Girl is the long-range specialist at Zeke’s Landing. Capt. Mike Rowell runs a 62-foot Resmondo — a serious, purpose-built sportfisher, and one of the bigger charter hulls on the Orange Beach dock — and while she does normal day trips, the reason people book this boat is the extended stuff: trips stretching up to 36 hours, far enough out that the target list changes species.
The trips
Day trips work the reefs for snapper, triggerfish, and amberjack, same as the rest of the fleet. The extended runs are a different sport — blue-water trolling for tuna, wahoo, mahi, and marlin. The boat’s blue marlin history is real: they tagged and released one back in 2011, and that’s the caliber of water she fishes. If you’ve been wanting the trip where you sleep offshore and wake up over the deep stuff, this is one of the few boats here built for it.
Good to know
A 62-footer rides heavy seas better than the smaller six-packs, which matters over a 36-hour run. Red snapper season runs June 1 through late October, and the long trips book out well ahead — call rather than hoping for a walk-up.
