Barometer opened in April 2025 at Sportsman’s Marina on Canal Road, and it didn’t stay a secret long — by 2026 it was ranked #9 in USA TODAY’s 10Best Best New Restaurants in the country. Not the state. The country. It’s chef-owned, it’s on the water, and there are 40 boat slips out front, so you can tie up, eat, and idle home through Terry Cove.
What to order
Gulf seafood is the point — raw bar shellfish, steaks, and handcrafted cocktails from the tiki side of the operation. Wednesday nights bring the Gulf steamer platter: shrimp, crab legs, corn, andouille sausage, jalapeño slaw, rotini crab salad, and hushpuppies. Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday mornings with Bloody Mary and mimosa bars.
The vibe
Marina dining the way it should work — live music nightly, frozen drinks in rotation, boats coming and going, and a kitchen that’s clearly aiming higher than the average dock bar. Happy hour early in the evening on weekdays takes the edge off the bill.
Good to know
It’s new enough that the national press has found it, which means summer crowds have too. They take reservations through OpenTable; use them.
