Artworks is the only art gallery actually on Perdido Key — everything else requires crossing a bridge. It’s been in Villagio Town Centre since 2008, recently reorganized as Artworks Local Art & Gifts, and it runs as one of two galleries under the same roof of ownership; the sister location is in downtown Pensacola’s Seville district.
What you’ll find
Local paintings, pottery, and photography — work by named area artists like Carole Ogden, Samantha Snyder, and Jennifer A. Powell, not anonymous print-on-demand beach art. Villagio’s shops skew toward vacation retail, so a room of actual local work is a useful counterweight. They run classes too, if you’d rather make something than buy it.
Good to know
Being in Villagio means it pairs with dinner — the town center has restaurants, so the gallery browse slots neatly before or after. And since it’s the on-island option, it’s where you go when you realize on the last morning that you owe somebody back home a gift that isn’t an airbrushed t-shirt.
Why locals care
Sixteen-plus years in one strip of an island that churns through businesses is its own credential. Galleries don’t survive here on tourist whims alone — locals keep buying, which tells you the work holds up.
