Shipp’s Dockside Grill opened in March 2025 in the old Fisher’s spot on the Orange Beach Marina basin, and if the name sounds familiar, it should — this is Chef Matt Shipp of Shipp’s Harbour Grill, back on the water and running this one with his daughter. Around here that surname carries weight.
How it works
Two decks, two speeds. The lower deck is casual counter service — dockside seafood and sushi, order and grab a seat by the water. The upper deck is full-service and family-friendly, where Chef Matt’s signature dishes and craft cocktails live; the Grouper Pontchartrain is the kind of thing you go up there for. Same building, pick your level of effort.
Good to know
They’ll cook your catch — the “Hook & Cook” deal means a good day on the water can end with someone else doing the dishes. Given that you’re sitting in a working marina basin surrounded by charter boats, that’s not a gimmick, it’s the natural order of things.
The vibe
Fisher’s was an institution and this room has big shoes to fill, but a Shipp kitchen on the basin is about as safe a bet as Orange Beach makes. Boat traffic for scenery, sushi if the fried-seafood fatigue has set in.
